Fort Walton Beach Real Estate

“AYE MATEY!” June is the time of year when the Pirates take over the city of Ft Walton Beach! The raucous marauder, Capt. Billy Bowlegs, and his band of hooligans have been overtaking the city since 1953! The ships arrive at the Landing in downtown FWB with cannons firing and swords a’blazing. The festivities include live music, all kinds of food and merriment as well as a fireworks display. The event spans over two days and culminates with a “midnight run” (that nowadays begins at 10p.m. :-P)

Fort Walton Beach is conveniently located directly between both Eglin Air Force Base and Hurlburt Field, so there are quite a few military families who live there. Fort Walton sees seasonal tourism, though tourists in this area primarily stay on Okaloosa Island, which connects Destin to the main portion of Fort Walton Beach. FWB, as it’s known to the locals, is more affordable than Destin and nearby Niceville, mainly due to the age of the area, but there are numerous shops, restaurants, and bars to keep you entertained.
